Shirt: Liverpool 16/17 Third

Album: RTJ3, Run the Jewels

I probably should’ve saved this shirt for a night time walk, but it still works to brighten a wet and grey Thursday, it’s versatile. In fact, I could wear it even if I wanted to go to work on a building site as it’d double up effectively as hi-vis PPE. It might sound like I dislike this shirt but I’m actually quite fond of it. The colour conjures memories of 90s Dortmund shirts, and the heat pressed badges make the whole thing feel more premium. It only made 7 competitive appearances, but you won’t forget it quickly will you?

Like today’s shirt, RTJ3 is no shrinking violet. Killer Mike and El-P deliver an album that’s angry, brash and even arrogant in places, but also political, defiant and witty. Think of it as WWE walk-out music with a message. The wordplay is slick and the beats are relentless, they’re almost like a Public Enemy for the new millennium. Praise doesn’t get much higher than that.

Shirt Rating: 7/10

Album Rating: 10/10
