Shirt: Liverpool 13/14 Away
Album: The Coral, The Coral

Now, I’ve been complaining about the cold weather a lot, but it does have its advantages. For a start, it’s handy to get some of the more…questionable…shirts in my collection out of the way for these walks without having to parade around in them for all the neighbours to see.
I’ve dispatched my 95/96 Liverpool goalkeeper shirt for a start. I mean, I love the shirt, but to any outsider it looks like a magic eye painting viewed after taking some weapons grade LSD. I’ve also dispensed with Liverpool’s 12/13 third shirt, the one with the tribal graphics on the sleeves, which I’m glad about, because the coat I wear easily covers up the embarrassing parts of that kit. It’s why I was also glad when this shirt got picked- Liverpool’s 13/14 home.
I’ve covered this shirt before and how Warrior took a nice idea and then took it too far by throwing every design trick in the book at it. Still, despite the (almost) universal distain for this shirt, I grew quite fond of it after studying it in detail for the feature. I think they call that ‘Stockholm Syndrome’.

Today’s album was the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it self titled debut album by The Coral. Clocking in at a featherweight 34 minutes, I barely had time to get around the block before it was over. The psychedelic pop melodies breeze past you with alarming ease, Dreaming of You the only true ear worm that digs its heels to stick with you for the rest of the day. No coincidence that it’s their most popular song on Spotify.
