Shirt: Liverpool 95/96 Home
Album: Cast – All Change
(Both suggested by @bigbadclarkey on Twitter, cheers mate!)

Remember a couple of years ago, when we had ‘The Beast from the East’, that massive snow storm that left people stranded on motorways, brought down trees and generally caused chaos around the country?
Well, the internet rumour mill said that we were due another today, so imagine my surprise when I flung open the curtains this morning to find nothing more than a light flurry of the white stuff. Hardly a thick blanket of snow, it looked more like the icing sugar dusted on top of a Victoria sponge.
It was however, cold. And I’m not talking about the kind of chill that makes your fingers go numb, I’m talking about the kind that can freeze the tears inside your eyes. The kind of cold that soaks into your bones and makes you feel like your muscles will turn brittle and shatter like the bad Terminator at the end of Judgement Day. So while I did have a hat and gloves on, there was no need for a scarf because back in 1995 Adidas decided to build one into Liverpool’s home shirt, which I’m wearing today.
Yes, it’s the shirt with *that* collar. The one that looks like a cricket jumper. Turns out that it works rather well on ‘chilly’ days like this.
I’m joking of course, I still had a snood, thermal gloves and an insulated jacket. Two pairs of socks too.

By coincidence, the album I was listening to today was also released in the same year as the shirt. All Change was Cast’s debut album, and a strong start for the band who were breaking in to a crowded Britpop market in 1995, going toe to toe with the likes of Blur and Oasis.
The songs are bright and upbeat, a positive energy running through the album. The melodies aren’t groundbreaking, but they are catchy and very easy to listen to.
Cast are from Liverpool and like the football team, despite some strong performances they never quite reached the top spot in the 90s. But like this shirt, they are fondly remembered by many.
Shirt Rating: 10/10
Album Rating: 8/10
